A Collapsable Boat

Here is Always Somewhere Else (Rene Daalder, 2007, 68 min)

Dutch conceptual artist Bas Jan Ader (1942-1975) last known to be crossing the Atlantic in a 13’ sailboat “In Search of the Miraculous” phase II of his last project; the boat was found shipwrecked on the coast of Ireland.

A few of his film shorts remain and have resurfaced with popularity in the last few years, taking the form of youthful homage. Ader’s films from 1970-1972 were silent, black and white, attendant, studies of gravity. What does it mean to fall.

(As for the poster, fold solid lines toward you and dashed lines away. Begin with the horizon.)
