Turn of the Century Cave

"A house means a family house, a place specially meant for putting children and men in so as to restrict their waywardness and distract them from the longing for adventure and escape they've had since time began." ((As translated by Barbara Bray in Marguerite Duras' "Practicalities") House of Leaves.)

Since time began, we've been out of doors and seeking shelter. Now with so much inside we seek the exterior to leave oneself, one's home, the known--for the pursuit, until we strive to return to the cave during inclement conditions to share the trophies of other worlds seen often as stories at the fire of interest. Just outside that threshold is everything less familiar, and ourselves much older.

terrific to see a house of leaves reference. Does this mean what I think it does? If so, we need to nerd out on your reading.
